Medial Branch Blocks

Medial branch blocks are temporary anesthetic blocks of the nerves supplying facet joints. These are blocks are done to confirm a diagnosis of pain arising from the facet joints, as well as to evaluate a patient's candidacy for radiofrequency neurotomies in order to treat pain arising from facet joints. Medial branch blocks can be done of the cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spine.
